Many of the issues that PHRII focuses on are caused/exacerbated by substance addiction: a research area that I have primarily worked on at Emory University. Such issues include: Domestic violence, sexually transmitted infections, and sex trafficking. To connect my research interests with the work that I was exposed to during my time at PHRII, I delivered a presentation that highlighted the prevalence of substance use disorders (SUDs) in India and the importance of understanding SUDs through induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
